Leadership Development Programs

At Catholic Education Tasmania, we believe that every employee should have the opportunity to grow and develop as a person, as an effective team member, and as a future leader.

We are a Catholic organisation, and as such, we turn to Jesus Christ as the model of service and leadership. Catholic Education embraces a theory and exercise of leadership that has grown out of Catholic belief and has been refined over the centuries. This is what we call Christoform Leadership - a genuinely Christ-like way of leading.

Importantly you do not need to be a Catholic to learn and grow as a leader in CET, or to become a highly effective Christoform Leader.

Our leadership development programs offer select staff a series of four leadership formation sessions per year designed to assist them to grow and flourish as a leader in Catholic Education Tasmania with specific opportunities for groups within our schools and offices.

These opportunities form part of a broader Catholic leadership formation program that encompasses school and office-based positions in CET across our state. It is our vision that each leader - whether aspiring, emerging, or accomplished - has the opportunity to learn and grow as a person and as a current or future leader in our system.

These days are designed to support staff to step away from their daily duties, spend time reflecting on their work, and enhance their skills as a leader.

We see all these leadership activities as ongoing and developmental. They are a genuine part of our commitment to help grow leaders and to enhance leadership capability in CET at all levels.

Supporting further development within CET

In addition to the leadership development programs the following are also available to support leadership and formation depending on your individual pathway.

These opportunities are designed to support your development throughout your journey in Catholic education.

Business Services Staff

In addition to the leadership development pathways, Business Services staff can attend an annual conference of their peers.

This conference provides an opportunity for Business Services staff from across Catholic EducationTasmania to network and further their understanding of best practices.Topics covered range from managing information systems, access to additional learning opportunities, to well- being.

Deputy Principals

The following opportunities are available to Deputy Principals within Catholic EducationTasmania to support them as they progress in their leadership development.

These initiatives are designed to create a collaborative environment for Deputy Principals to further develop their understanding of leadership within CET. The provision of collegial support opportunities such as network days and conferences further supports Deputy Principals in their leadership journey.

Network opportunities include:

  • Leadership Development supported by their Principal.
  • Direct Regional Principal Leader support.
  • Network days and biennial Deputy Principal Conference.
  • Coaching funded by the school to support personal and professional development.

Principals

Four days per year are allocated towards supporting new Principals within Catholic Education Tasmania through the Principal Induction program. Whether they are new to Tasmania or new to Principalship, Principal Induction provides Principals with an overview of their role as leaders within the Catholic Education Tasmania system.

Induction sessions also provide an opportunity for Principals to share leadership stories and to engage with the key staff at theTCEO who will support them during their journey within CET.

The agenda for these days is designed with input from both system leaders and Principals, with the aim of meeting both individual and system needs for new Principals.

Additional development opportunities are provided to Principals to both support them as leaders and assist them to increase the support they provide to the communities they lead.

These opportunities include:

  • Cluster networks
  • Reflective practice
  • Renewal leave
  • CCEL
  • NCEC Conference
  • Saints of Italy Pilgrimage
  • Regional Principal Leader Support
  • Coaching
  • Colleague Shadowing
