This Sunday is the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Gospel reading is Matthew 17:1-9.
The Transfiguration
Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three dwellings here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by fear. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Get up and do not be afraid.” And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, “Tell no one about the vision until after the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
Hive Hero
After recently completing Hive publisher training, Alison has gone above and beyond to set up the Payroll section of our new intranet. Alison's excitement and enthusiasm is encouraging to behold. By embracing the training and eagerly taking up the responsibilities, she has demonstrated a passion for fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture within our organisation.
As one of many publishers, we asked Alison some questions, about her experience with Hive!
What makes you so excited about Hive?
I’m excited that there will be a central place for everyone to find the information they need. I think it’s wonderful that each section on Hive will be maintained by those who are ‘in the know’ in that area.
How would you explain Hive?
Hive is an information hub. Have a question? Go to Hive. What to know what’s going on? Go to Hive. It will be easy to access and search and it’s all in one place.
Have you found the system easy to use?
The system is straightforward to use and I like that I can experiment with the options—no one will see what you’re doing until you publish the information.
How do you think Hive will improve the way your team communicates with the rest of CET?
Hive is going to give us the ability to share updates and information as needed. The sections our team is developing will help staff find what they need: forms, information, how-to’s, FAQs, and more. The possibilities are almost endless.

Tasmanian Pilgrims Attend World Youth Day
This week marked the beginning of World Youth Day (WYD) for young pilgrims across the world celebrating together in Lisbon, Portugal. This global event is a unique and joyous encounter with the Pope, celebrated approximately every three years in different countries.
In the lead up to WYD, our Archdiocesan pilgrims have been experiencing all that Rome has to offer, including Mass celebrated by Archbishop Julian Porteous in the crypt of St Peter's Basilica.
WYD is an incredible opportunity for the 35 young pilgrims from around Tasmania to join their peers, deepening their faith and gathering in the spirit of love and unity.
Kick Goals for Good in 2023
As the superstars of the FIFA Women’s World Cup kick their goals, the launch of Socktober 2023 this week will have students across Australia kicking their own, and for a good cause.
The schools-based community engagement initiative of Catholic Mission, which launched this Tuesday, seeks to show students and their families the injustice of global poverty, especially for young children, through the unifying power of the world game.
One of the highlights of Socktober 2023 is the availability of Catholic Mission's renowned resources for schools, including the highly acclaimed Mission Packs. These engaging educational resources are thoughtfully curated to provide students with an in-depth understanding of global social justice issues, while also igniting their passion for contributing to positive change in the world.
Celebrating Primary Principals' Day
Tomorrow we celebrate Primary Principals' Day, taking time to recognise and thank our Principals for the tremendous work they do with our school communities. To all the Principals across our schools, thank you for your dedication and passion. Your commitment to providing quality education, creates a culture of excellence that allows our students to flourish in learning and in life.
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day
Tomorrow is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day. The theme for 2023 is 'Little Voices, Loud Futures'. We celebrate Children's Day to promote the importance of ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children grow up with strong connections to their heritage, backed by unwavering support from their families and communities.
As we unite in celebration, we are reminded of the impact that we as a school community can have on the children of Catholic Education Tasmania. Let's continue to create a nurturing environment where every child can embrace their unique identity and heritage, thereby contributing to a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
