Accessing CET Professional Learning
How can I find information relevant to my career?
You can scan the upcoming events on the right-hand side of each issue of Communique.
You can access this newsletter in the future via a link on your CETKP site or directly through Communique by clicking on the Professional Learning tab located in the Communique navigation menu.
Click on the menu at the top of the newsletter to access different professional learning opportunities via your area of interest.
If you wish to view more offerings, either scroll up or down, or click on 'TOP' to go back to the menu.
If you are looking for a particular professional learning session, you can search for it using the search function at the top of the page. Type your search term, click enter, and then select the arrows to scroll through the options.
How do I know if a session is open for registration?
You can click on the link to the professional learning calendar located on the left-hand menu and then tick the box titled ‘Open for Registration’. This will bring up all the professional learning sessions that are currently open for registration. You can then scroll through the next couple of months to see what is available.
If you know which session you are looking for use the menu or search function on this page to navigate to the event. Click ‘Access more information’ to view the event details. If the event contains a link titled ‘Register online’ then it is open for registration.
What if I want to register for an event that has closed?
If the event you are interested in is no longer open for registration, please request access to the registration form from the person listed as the contact on the event.
Please note that it may not be possible accommodate your request if the registration period has passed.
How will I know if my session has been cancelled?
If the professional learning session you were registered to attend is cancelled, you will receive a notification from the person managing that session.
You can also tick the ‘Cancelled’ box on the professional learning calendar and navigate to the date of the session to see if it is listed as cancelled.

Christian Meditation Retreat
School based or at a venue of school's choosing
Intended Audience
All employees
Course Synopsis
This Retreat is designed to give participants a deeply personal experience of the 'John Main' model of Christian Meditation, primarily for their own deepening prayer and formation.
Anticipated Outcomes
On completion of this session participants will have had: · experiences of Christian Meditation throughout the day and another form of meditation; · input on the history and background of Christian Meditation; · opportunities for reflection & time alone in the prayerful natural environment; · input on 'what meditation is': being 'restored' to ourselves, learning to be silent.

Godly Play Makers Workshops

A workshop to create resources for the leading of Godly Play.

Life to the Full Retreat for Early Career Teachers
Intended Audience
Early Career Teachers (1-3 years teaching experience)
Course Synopsis
A two-day retreat, which seeks to nourish the spiritual lives of early career teachers. Catholic Christian spirituality is an invitation that emanates Catholic education. We are Called and Sent by a mystery that loves us. In our vocation as leaders at all levels we are invited into abundant flourishing (John 10:10).
Anticipated Outcomes
- reflect upon how we are called to be people of faith in our vocation and mission in Catholic Education;
- explore through reflection, meditation and dialogue, various opportunities for spiritual reflection;
- encounter spiritual questions and reflect theologically with others and upon the God who loves us; and
- experiment with the development of a spiritual practice in our daily lives.

Course Synopsis
A one-day retreat offered, which will focus upon God's invitation in 'the Word' and through the witness of our work in Catholic Education. Catholic Christian spirituality is an invitation that emanates Catholic education. We are Called and Sent by a mystery that loves us. In our vocation as leaders at all levels we are invited into abundant flourishing (John 10:10). The retreat program is the regular work day of the retreatants.
Anticipated Outcomes
On completion of this course teachers should have:
- reflected upon how we are called to be people of faith in our vocation and mission in Catholic Education;
- explored through reflection, meditation and dialogue, various opportunities for spiritual reflection;
- encountered spiritual questions and reflect theologically with others and upon the God who loves us; and
- experimented with the development of a spiritual practice in our daily lives.

Course Synopsis
This course is for beginning primary and secondary teachers who are teaching Religious Education for the first time. The course will focus on providing teachers with an introduction to Religious Education and some learning and teaching strategies that will assist them to become more effective Religious Education teachers.
Anticipated Outcomes
At the completion of this course participants will:
- be familiar with Good News for Living and associated Resource Banks;
- be familiar with RE Achievement Standards; o be more conversant with Church teachings; and
- have an array of teaching/learning strategies that will enable planning and preparation of learning sequences in Religious Education.
