This Sunday is Pentecost and the Gospel reading is John 20:19-23.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
Introducing Project Hive
A project to redevelop the CET intranet to create a new and improved platform that is more user-friendly, efficient, and effective for all employees is underway! The new intranet will provide a range of new features and functionality to better support you in accessing centralised information quickly. Some of these new features include the ability to target information to select groups of staff, the ability to set individual preferences so that you can easily access information relevant to you and your work, and easy access to the latest system news and updates.
Throughout this project, regular updates will be provided to keep you informed of progress and any changes that may affect you or how you work. We have also set up a page on the current intranet where you can find more information and follow along as the project progresses. If you are new to CET, the login details for the current intranet are below:

Please note you need to be logged into your school’s network to access the current intranet. If you have any questions or concerns at this stage, please contact comms@catholic.tas.edu.au
Jamie Graham-Blair: Sharing palawa Culture at SVC Leads to Tasmanian Young Achiever Award
The Dental South First Nations Peoples Achievement Award was this year awarded to pakana (Tasmanian Aboriginal person) Jamie Graham-Blair, of St Virgil’s College. As part of the Young Achiever Awards, this award is centred around the impact that outstanding young First Nations people have in Tasmania, and celebrates how their contribution has positively influenced peers and their community.
Jamie is a Learning Support Officer at St Virgil’s College, but the work that he does at the College goes above and beyond what is required in this position. Jamie’s work at the College began in 2020, after founding the tunapri makuminya project. He has since continued as a member of staff as a Learning Support Officer and tunapri makuminya project manager. Jamie has helped provide St Virgil’s with great access to palawa culture and history, to help give the young men at the College an opportunity to hold conversations and tap into the ancient and contemporary culture of lutruwita/Tasmania.
Southern Catholic Colleges Career Showcase
Friday 19 May 2023 marked an important day in the futures of Year 9 – 12 students at Catholic Education Tasmania schools. Over 2,000 students from ten Southern Catholic Colleges visited MAC 02 to meet with industry experts from nearly 50 organisations from around Tasmania.
Marisa Newman, CET’s Vocational Learning and Careers expert played a key role, alongside the college career advisors in ensuring that this showcase came together. “To be able to collaborate to get all the colleges togethers, to be able to get all of the employers together… People will leave school and they’ll go out into the world, so I feel like today was a great opportunity for the students to connect the dots.”

The cost of registration ($1250.00) to attend the conference will be covered by CPAT.

Advice for Flag Marshals: National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week
National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities. National Reconciliation Week is a time for Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements.
Flying the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flags on National Sorry Day and throughout National Reconciliation Week recognises the significance of these events for all Australians and is a sign of respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture.
From Friday 26 May to Saturday 3 June 2023, the Australian Aboriginal Flag and the Torres Strait Islander Flag should be flown on additional flagpoles, where available, next to or near the Australian National Flag on Australian Government buildings and establishments. Other organisations are encouraged to follow this protocol.
If there is only one flagpole available at a flag station, the Australian Aboriginal Flag or the Torres Strait Islander Flag should not replace the Australian National Flag. Where two flagpoles are available, it is at the discretion of the authority concerned to determine which of the two flags is flown with the Australian National Flag. The Australian Aboriginal Flag and the Torres Strait Islander Flag are equal in precedence and may be flown in any order after the Australian National Flag.
