This Sunday is the 6th Sunday of Easter and the Gospel reading is John 14:15-21.
The Promise of the Holy Spirit
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.
“I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”
Toolkit for Schools and Best Practice Framework for Online Safety Education
The eSafety Toolkit for Schools has recently been updated, including new research and advice on reporting to reflect the Online Safety Act 2021 and updated regulatory functions.
Produced by the eSafety Commissioner, the resources are backed by evidence and support a nationally-consistent approach to preventing and responding to online safety issues. The toolkit should be used in conjunction with eSafety’s Best Practice Framework for Online Safety Education, which establishes a consistent national approach to delivering high quality programs.
St Brigid’s Catholic School Wynyard Celebrate 100 Years!
On 3 May 100 years ago, St Brigid's Catholic School Wynyard were preparing for the official blessing by Archbishop Daniel Mannix of Melbourne, and on 3 May last week, the School were privileged to have His Grace Archbishop Julian Porteous and Father John Girdauskas concelebrate their 100-year mass.
Students and teachers dressed up for a parade around town, and there was even cake! Principal Charlene Best, took the time to create a digital book of the School's history saying, "There are 100 years of memories and only a few have been captured within this book. We understand that history can bring about both joyful and sad memories but the one thing that students can articulate in the present day is that they feel loved, valued and connected and have a friend in Jesus."
The Writing Revolution is revolutionising how educators teach students
The Writing Revolution is at the centre of teaching students in Catholic Education Tasmania schools how to write. Students across Tasmania have some of the lowest literacy rates in the country, and as part of Literate Learners for Life, CET aims to tackle these issues to ensure that there is an equal opportunity for all students to learn.
CET’s Lisa Fenning, the Lead Advisor: Literacy, explained how important writing instruction is for teaching students how to write effectively. “Writing instruction cannot be facilitated effectively without subject area content and knowledge. This makes our writing instruction reliant on every learning area content.” Said Lisa, “CET’s focus on a knowledge rich curriculum, will further enhance our teaching and writing instruction for our students and educators.”
