This Sunday is the Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Gospel reading is Luke 12:13-21.
Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.” But he said to him, “Friend, who set me to be a judge or arbitrator over you?” And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.” Then he told them a parable: “The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God.”
Knights of the Southern Cross - Prayer Crusade for Vocations
The National Executive of the KSC has agreed that for 2022 and the future years the KSC Prayer Crusade for Vocations will align with the Australian Catholic Church's Vocations Awareness Week. The KSC Vocation Prayer Crusade for 2022 will therefore run from 7 - 14 August 2022 for a concerted week of prayer for vacations throughout Australia.
Tasmanian Catholics are once again invited to join the Knights of the Southern Cross and Catholics in the Australian Defence Force in our 16th prayer Crusade to pray for an increase in the number of Catholics willing to serve the Church in the priesthood, diaconate and religious life.
Those participating are asked to say the special prayer of each day of the week between Sunday 7 to Sunday 14 August.
THE PRAYER:
"Heavenly Father, you know the faith, courage and generosity of your people throughout Australia including the men and women serving at home and overseas with the Australian Defence Force. Please provide your people in Australia with sufficient Priests, Deasons and Religious to meet their needs and be with them always as they endeavour to meet the challenges of their daily lives. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen."

The Literate Learners for Life
The Literate Learners for Life initiative despite only being in its infancy, is already influencing the students at Sacred Heart Catholic School Geeveston.
Cate Doherty is the Literacy Practice Leader and Literacy teacher for one of the three Year One/Two ‘teams’ at Sacred Heart Geeveston. As a Literacy Practice Leader, one of Cate's responsibilities is to be 'on the ground' ensuring system-wide consistency for the Literate Learners for Life initiative. There is a Literacy Practice Leader in every Catholic school across Tasmania, and like Cate, they use the MultiLit program to help support the children in their school.
