MHFA Young Australian Writers Award - Creative Writing Competition 2022
In any writing style of your choosing, up to a maximum of 800 words, create a positive contribution to the important topic of Mental Health & Wellbeing faced by young Australians. A winner from each state will be awarded in the categories Upper Primary (Years 5-6), Lower Secondary (Years 7-8) and Upper Secondary (Years 10-12). Entries are due by 31 July 2022.
Fuse Cup Competition
The Fuse Cup is being held on the 6 July, 2022 and hosted by St Virgil's College, the Competition includes scheduled breaks and plenaries that focus on key messaging around digital wellbeing and online safety. Please note registrations are still open!
Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy Consultation Workshops
The Tasmanian Government is developing the next Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy. Consultation workshops are being held across the State in July to inform the development of the draft strategy.
The workshops, which will be facilitated by Tasmania’s Chief Psychiatrist, will build on early themes of the community survey and seek deeper insight into the views and experiences of people working in the sector, including those delivering suicide prevention, crisis intervention and/or bereavement work in Tasmania.
Registration closes on 7 July.
Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy Focus Group
The Tasmanian Government is developing the next Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy. Lived experience focus groups are being held in Hobart, Launceston, and Burnie in July to inform the development of the draft strategy.
The focus groups will provide a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space to support participants to share their views and experiences and discuss the suicide prevention needs of their community.
Registration closes on 7 July.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday
NATSICC is the peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advisory body to the Bishops Conference and each year they produce resources to help Schools to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday.

NATSICC, in partnership with Edmund Rice Education Australia, has created an engaging set of Youth Activities (available on the Resources webpage) that encourage students to begin their own journey of exploration into the history of our Great Southern Land and to seek out ways in which they can Get up! Stand up! And Show up! Learning Outcomes include delving deeper into Australia’s history with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, identifying positive First Nations Rolenodels and uncovering opportunities to contribute to the local community through helping others.

PLC Pieces: Instructional Strategy Flipbook from Achievement Teams
Instructional strategies are teacher actions that are designed to raise students’ levels of thinking and learning around specific learning intentions. They are purposeful methods of instruction that help create vibrant, independent students who can assess their learning. Each strategy contained in this flip book has been selected based on its effect on achievement and progress. The strategies are arranged in five categories: teacher led, connect or introduce, collaborative learning, reflect on learning and build independence.
